3 Tips to make jeans look fantastic
Don’t you love wearing jeans? They’re comfortable, so easy to wear. No squeezing yourself up trying to think of something to put on. They’re as dressed down as I’m prepared to go.
Honestly, tracksuits and short raggedy little shorts look awful. Putting no thought into what you wear is just sloppy and unattractive. You really notice who puts in effort. It makes you feel good. I pay attention to people wearing colours but it’s more than that, It’s how they put an outfit together.
It’s all in the details. Plain jeans can be transformed by a flattering top, a pair of stylish shoes and a statement piece of jewellery.
There was someone the other day in Daylesford. She had jeans, a longer white shirt with some really good bits of chunky silver jewellery. Camel ankle boots with a heel and bag that matched. She stood out from the crowd.
The French wear lots of jeans too. They can make an ordinary outfit of jeans and a plain shirt or jumper look super stylish by dressing it up with a funky scarf, fantastic shoes and eye-catching jewellery.

I . Wear a flattering top.
Two crucial things that make tops flattering are the shape and the type of material it’s made out of.
The quality of material is really important. Tops can be quite simple but look great made out of good quality silk or fine cotton. In fact, that’s all I ever wear. When you look around, the people you notice looking good are wearing silk and good cotton. Never nylon.
I’m sure you’ll agree, loose but following the line of your body is much more flattering than tight and short.
Google “worst jeans outfits” and you’ll find lots of tight, tarty looking tops. Worst still, some are tight with a bare midriff. Pretty scary!
2. Make a statement with your jewellery
You can do this by wearing big chunky rings (I love chunky silver) and bracelets. If you’re wearing a necklace, it looks fantastic you choose one with coloured stones that complement the colour of your top. With jewellery, I’m talking sophisticated, not cheap and garish. I mean quality pieces in silver or gold. Cheap pieces just look cheap and they don’t stand out.
3. Wear quality shoes
Cheap and nasty shoes totally ruin a great outfit. I’m talking sports shoes, thongs or comfort sandals. Dress jeans up with a great pair of wedges or sandals with a heel. Rolled up at the bottom with an ankle boot is also a stylish look.
