Why Everyone’s Wearing Australian Opals Again
I have to admit, for a long time, I didn’t really like Australian Opals. I’d look at them in downtown souvenir shops and think that they were sort of uncool, just for tourists wanting to take home a little reminder of “Down Under”.
In the past few years, I’ve totally changed my mind. This love has crept up on me!
Opal jewellery has been reinvented and is enjoying a major worldwide resurgence in popularity.
Why everyone’s wearing Australian Opals again
Their brilliant, iridescent colours set in bold, sleek, contemporary designs are creating a real buzz. In the past year or so, Australian Opals have become coveted by celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Monica Pean and Pamela Love who have waltzed down the red carpet decked out in these shimmering precious stones.
Opals come in an incredible variety of colours – luminescent, milky white, fiery sunset red, purple and orange and of course, colours that remind you of sparkling seas on a perfect Summer day. They are truly unique because each precious stone is emblazoned with a one of a kind colour combination.
There is so much magic and mystery surround this gorgeous gem. So many stories. Romans believed Opals contained the beauty of all precious stones combined and gave them to their wives for “good luck”. Shakespeare called them the “Queen of Gems” and the ancient Greeks referred to them as “tears of Zeus”.
October has the Opal as it’s birthstone so if you’re an October baby, wearing Opal jewellery brings you “good luck” They also symbolise faithfulness and confidence.
Paris designed our new collection of Australian Opals in Sterling Silver, their clean lines enhancing the organic shape and natural beauty of the stones.
The brilliant colours go with any outfit. You can really wear them with any colour.
